About Department of Bacteria, Parasites and Fungi
We are happy to announce this novel 3 year (project) full time post as Senior Scientist in Department of Bacteria, Parasites and Fungi at Statens Serum Institut.
You will be part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team of 20 scientists and 10 technicians in the Danish National Reference Laboratory for Antimicrobial Resistance responsible for national surveillance of antimicrobial resistance and use in health, animal and environmental sectors and related research on antibacterial agents in preclinical development.
About the position
The post is based on a successful grant application within the European consortium ‘Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance, JPIAMR’. You will be responsible for conducting and reporting results of studies on novel antibacterial agents in preclinical development as part of an international consortium. The antibacterial agent is directed towards Gram-negative bacteria and your work will include both in vitro and in vivo evaluations of the antibacterial spectrum, in vivo efficacy and PKPD.
Your education, experiences and personal qualifications
You thrive with planning, performing and reporting in vitro as well as in vivo experimental studies. You are a team player and enjoy working in multidisciplinary international collaborations.
You have a Msc in Microbiology and a Ph.D. in microbiology and antibiotic development. We are also looking for experience as a scientist or equivalent.
Furthermore, you have:
- research experience with both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
- experience with in vitro studies of antibacterial agents in preclinical development (MIC testing, Checkerboard assays, time-kill assays).
- experience with in vivo infection models for evaluating efficacy of antibacterial agents in preclinical development.
- experience as research project manager in international projects.
- experience of writing scientific reports and presenting scientific data at meetings and international conferences.

Terms of employment
The employment will be in accordance with the terms of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Federation of Professional Associations (AC-overenskomsten) and the Danish Ministry of Taxation.
The employment is a three-year employment as a academic employee with possibilities for extension.
