About the groups
The Choudhary lab is technically and internationally diverse and embedded in an excellent environment that supports high-quality research and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration. The Choudhary lab conducts experimental research using interdisciplinary, state-of-the-art technologies, including quantitative proteomics, next-generation nucleic acid sequencing, advanced microscopy, CRISPR-based genome editing, and bioinformatics. The lab uses diverse cell models, including embryonic stem cells and their differentiated derivatives.
The Choudhary lab shares the laboratory space with the group of Prof. Matthias Mann and works closely with his group. The group extensively collaborates with top-level international researchers, routinely publishes in top-ranked journals, and has an outstanding track record in training the next generation of researchers. We are now looking for an enthusiastic PhD student to join our team.
Project description
The selected candidate will work within the Choudhary Group and be actively involved in the generation and archiving of CRISPR engineered cell lines and plasmids. The candidate will perform cloning, confirm plasmids by DNA sequencing, and perform genotyping of cells by PCR. Furthermore, the candidate will help in cataloguing and archiving of the existing and newly generated plasmids and cell lines in the Group. The candidate will work closely together with the members of the Choudhary Group.
The tasks will include:
- Cloning and generation of plasmid constructs for CRISPR-based genome editing.
- Culturing of bacteria and mammalian cells.
- Generation of CRIPSR engineered mammalian cells.
- Sequencing of plasmids, and genotyping of CRISPR edited cell lines.
- Cataloguing and archiving of plasmids and CRISPRI engineered cell stocks.
- Documentation of experiments using electronic lab book.
The selected candidate should be reliable and well organized. The work requires independence and demands flexibility and accuracy. Furthermore, the candidate should have good interpersonal skills and interested in working within an international team.
The candidate should fulfil the following qualifications:

- Proven experience in molecular biology or biochemistry laboratory work and techniques
- Good English communication skills, both oral and written
- Previous experience in cloning and generation of CRISPR engineered cell lines will be considered an advantage.
Qualifications
